The Endometriosis (R)Evolution: Making the Invisible Visible conference is a proud wearer of the Green Events Steiermark badge.
These are just some of the steps we have taken to make our event sustainable and eco-friendly:
- The conference aims to be paperless – the marketing materials and materials distributed to participants are in digital format,
- The goodie bags which will be distributed to the presenters are filled with carefully chosen local female-led businesses whose products are sustainably made,
- The very few paper materials that are used during the conference are printed on eco paper,
- Our venue Forum Stadtpark is easily accessible by public transportation which we encourage our guests to use,
- As organizers of the conference, we are using the University issued cargo bikes as means of transport,
- Tap water is available on site and participants are encouraged to bring their own refillable water bottles,
- The vegetarian/vegan catering is provided by Kochgenussatelier who use organic and regional ingredients.
INCLUSIVITY PLEDGE
The central topic of the conference is endometriosis, which is why we have made sure that the event itself is “endo-friendly,” making participation easy for affected persons. This includes an easily accessible location in the beautiful environment of our gorgeous city park. The program was made with the needs for both physical and mental breaks in mind. We are especially proud of the catering provided.
As most people affected by endometriosis know, nutrition plays a big role in managing endometriosis symptoms, which often makes all-day events such as this one challenging. Following the newest research into nutrition and endometriosis, we have created a menu (including snacks and a catered lunch) which excludes known inflammatory triggers such as processed sugars, meat, soy, and gluten. Mindful of allergens and other potential triggers, the buffet is also appropriate for persons suffering from diabetes and celiac disease.
The venue has an entrance ramp, a lift, and is barrier-free.
SAFE SPACE
The conference venue includes a small room which is a designated “safe space.” This space is designed to offer a silent, private retreat for those who might feel overwhelmed or overstimulated by the full program of the conference and need to take a break.
The participants also had access to hot water bottles and eco-friendly menstrual products on site.
